Aaaand he's back 8I

     "Ash?"
     Shax turned. "Would you stop calling me that? It's not my name anymore."
     "Okay." Myxa shrugged. "Shax, then. Sorry if I slip though. I'm not used to calling you that." Recently she was acting like she was treading on thin ice around him, and perhaps she was. Shax had grown more and more irritable as the days passed, more prone to snap a reply to anything she said. In response, Myxa had grown more and more apologetic, almost to the point of subservience.
     "Whatever," he grunted, and leaned against the wall.
     "So, Shax," Myxa said, almost timidly. "I… um, heard a rumor you can read now. Is that true?"
     "Yeah."
     "How well?" asked the other Nobody, looking a little excited.
     "Better than most scavengers," Shax said shortly. In truth, he now read better than any scavenger could ever hope to. Most couldn't read at all. He'd been lucky – Merc had at least taught him his letters… But just thinking of Merc made him wince uncomfortably. He couldn't feel sad, exactly, not without a heart, but it was still a painful subject for him.
     Myxa, as always, could read his thoughts, no matter how hard he tried to keep his face expressionless. "Sorry, did I say something?"
     Shax looked down. "No. I was just… remembering."
     "Remembering is good," Myxa said quietly. "That's all we Nobodies are, you know. Will and memory." He nodded, but didn't say anything in response. Myxa shuffled her feet. "D'you think you could perhaps teach some of us? Or maybe just me? It would be a huge step in helping us prove we're just as smart as the rems."
     "I don't think so. I'm not that great at it myself, and I'm not a very good teacher."
     "You said you'd help the revolution," she reminded him.
     "Yes," agreed Shax. "But only until I decided whether I was going back."
     "And are you?"
     Shax hesitated before answering. After a short silence, he sighed. "Yeah. I'm going back."
     Instead of looking disappointed, like he had expected, Myxa grinned. "I told you so," she said in a singsong voice. When Shax scowled in annoyance, she dropped the smile and stepped closer to him.
     "So why? Why are you going back?" She sounded like she truly wanted to know the answer. There was another pause.
     "I guess… I guess it's because… As a Nobody, I have the power to travel anywhere in the worlds," Shax said finally. "Staying on Avipida just feels like hiding. And no offense… but I think it's kind of boring."
     Myxa laughed delightedly. "Oh, Shax, I understand. We're different and we care about different things. But you know what? I think we're still the same at… well, at heart." She winked. "We both want to improve our station in life. Me for the scavengers, and you for the Nobodies. I guess your cause is just bigger."
     "I think you're doing your thing because it's right, though," admitted Shax. "I don't really have any moral sense here. I'm doing what I want to."
     "You want to go back to Organization Discordiae."
     "Yes."
     "Well, what's stopping you?" said Myxa, motioning with her hand. Shax glanced around.
     "Nothing, I guess. I don't think I'll kill Jaaxny after all."
     "That's the spirit." Myxa slapped him on the back, and he flinched slightly at the familiarity in the gesture. Then the charcoal-haired Nobody flicked a wrist and opened a Dark Corridor. Shax never had been one for lengthy goodbyes.
     "I promise I'll come back and visit, Myxa. Besides… you know where to find me." Then he was gone.
